Not much is known about the origins of this building, it was built in 1893, the purpose for which is unknown, in 1902 it became the New Jerusalem Church and Sunday School. The only other history we can find on the building is that it was used by the ARP in World War 2. The church itself was decommissioned in approximately 1986 and it then became the home of the Wigan Sea Cadets.
There has been reputed sightings of a young girl in a brightly coloured dress, along with what has been described as a local lady dressed In clothing linked to the end of the war, this along with the singing that has been heard makes us keen to investigate this old church, is the singing that is heard from the old congregation? Was the lady linked to someone from the ARP? And how does the little girl fit into this? Join us on April 2nd on what will be our very first investigation here.
