Built in approximately 1847 this imposing building was originally the residence of a local factory owner, from the records we can see that they took young girls from the local orphanage to work below stairs, later the residence became the vicarage for the church, in the twentieth century the building became a centre for the blind before becoming the sea cadets unit that it is used as today. The building is a rabbit warren of rooms and is set over four floors and is steeped in history.
Who is the little boy who sits on the stairs and how exactly did he die? He likes to play with toys so you can be sure we will have plenty in our kit for him! We have a name for the boy but we will want him to confirm it himself on the night. Did the apparition in the long black robes have connections with the local church or is there something more sinister about him? Will you sit in the cellar on your own where there have been reputed poltergeist activity with things being thrown around? Or how about the attic rooms, staff from the cadets have told us they have all experienced things up there that they are unable to explain. One final word of warning about this venue, should you come with us and investigate the building DO NOT ring the ships bell in the hallway, we have been told by the cadets staff that anyone who does this will suffer from bad luck…………You have been warned!
