Mill Street Barracks was built all the way back in 1861 and has been involved in much military and local history. It has accommodated various branches of the armed forces throughout it’s time as a barracks spanning numerous wars, It has also been used as a morgue during both world wars and is linked with the nearby church and nunnery.
Throughout the second half of the 20th century the Mill Street Barracks became infamous as a site of significant paranormal activity. Given its history as a morgue during lots of different wars, its links to the nearby churches and nunnery, and its former caretakers, the Barracks has a wealth of links with those who have passed over to the other side.
Today, lots of people visit the Barracks to search for evidence of haunting. There are more than ten regularly sighted spirits here making The Mill Street Barracks one of the most haunted buildings in the UK and also one of the most exciting places to investigate!
